What is the project about?

What is the task?

Hong Kong’s booksellers and publishers are facing threats following the National Security Law enacted in July 2020. This investigative journalism piece interviews authors and publishers who were affected by the law.

I was invited by Green Bean Media to create the opening sequence alongside a explainer animation to elaborate on the books that had been “disappeared” since the implementation of the law.

How did I approach the project?

The censorship reminds me of red lines lingering over the head of the industry, with books being treated as dangerous materials that have to be kept away from the public. I used red as the main colour throughout the design.
